Day three and four of a four day backcountry canoe camping trip in Algonquin Park with our dog. Took place September 17-20 2021. We had beautiful weather, and saw some fall colours start to peek through. In part 1 we set out onto Smoke lake and made our way to Bonnechere Lake where we grabbed one of the best campsites in the park! Day two was spent traveling to Lake Louisa and then lots of swimming and relaxing in the sun.
In this part of the video, we wake up to a foggy, misty morning on day 3, and eat an epic breakfast cooked over the fire. Eggs, bacon and bagel sandwiches. We set off to Big Porcupine with 6 portages ahead of us. We get lost along the way and almost go down two incorrect portages! We tackle Double Devil’s Staircase in reverse and settle in at camp. We set up camp, and swim. Then James goes fishing and catches a big Brook Trout. We cook the trout on the fire and enjoy the fish dinner with rice - the best camp meal followed by hot cocoa. On the final day of our trip we head back to Smoke lake. Before we leave, we help clean up the campsite by removing a large camp chair left for trash and take it out with us to dispose of. We paddle and portage our way to Smoke lake while planning our next camping trip and dreaming of the burgers we will eat on the way home.
