This video details how to create an Instant Jazz Drum Solo with Generative techniques in Ableton Live 11.
These techniques create a style of Jazz solo that is seemingly random. It will heavily utilize the probability of the MIDI clips, new to Ableton Live 11, which can create varied and interesting results.
These clips can be combined to create a drum solo that consists of 8th, 16th, Triplets and even 32nd Notes. Follow actions are utilized to jump from one to another after each beat.
The devices used for this are: Drum Booth, Follow Actions, Reverb, Probability, and Random Velocity.
You can use this technique for Avant Garde, Electro-Acoustic Music, and your own experimental music.
This video was created by Lorne Bregitzer, an Associate Professor for the University of Colorado Denver. He is also an Ableton Certified Trainer.
