Warfarin is an old blood thinner and has been around for over 70 years. Although newer blood thinners are available today some conditions like mechanical valves still require cardiologists to prescribe warfarin. And yes- it was also used as rat poison. But any medication taken at the wrong does can also be poison. So please, before you stop taking a potentially life saving medication please, please, please talk to your doctor.
