A media conference to preview the USA's must-win World Cup game against Iran ended abruptly on Sunday, after just one question was allowed from the Iranian media.

After a testy presser where defenders Tim Ream and Walker Zimmermann were asked repeated questions about the current human rights situation in Iran, the US national team's Director of Communications, Michael Kammarman, wrapped up proceedings after a critical comment from Iranian journalist Shervin Taheri.

The last meeting between the two nations at the 1998 World Cup in France, when Iran beat the USA 2-1, is dubbed "the most politically charged game in World Cup history".
