Miter saws are a very versatile and accurate tool for a variety of cuts. You can increase the accuracy and efficiency of your miter saw with simple shop-made upgrades like I show in this video. Zero clearance insert plates and fence plates both reduce tear out and make it faster and more precise to align your work piece to the blade.

In my shop I don't have space for a full-on dedicated miter saw station so I installed my saw on the countertop of my shop cabinets which allows the space to serve multiple purposes. The sliding material supports with flip stops allow me to make repetitive cuts quickly and also give me adjustable support to long work pieces. An efficient small shop solution.
