Great Wall Motors (GWM), a leading Chinese car manufacturer, recently launched its second-generation Haval H9. This seven-seater four-wheel-drive wagon is set to make its Australian debut after its debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2024. When talking about this family car's strengths, it's hard to overlook its versatility, as the H9 is an incredibly spacious seven-seat option that makes no compromises when it comes to cabin space. . For a large SUV at an affordable price, the interior is quite elegant and refined, and there are very generous features included as standard. Thanks to the H9's high stance, passengers get great visibility, which means plenty of light passes through to enhance the feeling of spaciousness. The boot in the back is huge, which means you can take on any weekend activity. Overall comfort is very high and the safety package is reasonably good value, even if it scores just four stars in the ANCAP safety ratings. While the tech doesn't feel as intuitive as some other large SUVs that offer more bells and whistles, it's still a solid piece of kit, and the H9 adds thanks to generous 4WD configurations like low-range driving and multiple drive modes. The front end is bolder, with distinctive circular LED headlights and a large, vertical grille. The sides get a very clear shoulder line, there is a greenhouse with steeper and almost square rear windows. The dimensions of the new generation Haval H9 are 4859 x 1934 x 1853 mm. It's 3mm longer, 8mm wider and 47mm lower than the current H9. Its clearance reaches 224 mm. Power will come from either a 165kW/385Nm 2.0T petrol or a 137kW/480Nm 2.4T diesel mated to an 8-speed AT or 9-speed AT respectively. The new car is also equipped with BorgWarner's TOD (Torque-On-Demand) all-wheel drive system. In addition, the 2.0T version has a fuel consumption of 10.7 L/100 km (WLTC). The approach and departure angles of the New Haval h9 are 31° and 26°, respectively. Towing is also supported. The petrol 4×4 model will have the required all-wheel drive, front and rear differential locks as well as a low-range transfer case. Off-road modes such as Mud, Snow and Sand are expected. The 2nd generation Haval H9 is expected to be built on a ladder-frame chassis and given the growing popularity of the Tank sub-brand, there should be some overlap in terms of design and interior appointments. interior specifications include dual 12.3-inch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 10-speaker sound system. The second generation Haval H9 may adopt the same interior styling as the Haval Raptor. Based on the interior spy shot, it can be seen that the air conditioning outlets are located below the central control screen and the center console is filled with various physical buttons.
