Surah Maryam is the 19th chapter (surah) of the Quran, with 98 verses. It is named after Maryam (Mary), the mother of Jesus (Isa), who is mentioned several times throughout the surah.

The surah begins by mentioning the story of Zakariya (Zechariah), who prayed to Allah for a son and was granted one, who would become Yahya (John the Baptist). The story then moves to Maryam, who was visited by an angel and informed that she would give birth to Jesus. The surah describes the miraculous birth of Jesus and his mission as a messenger of Allah.

The surah also contains accounts of other prophets, including Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), and Isma'il (Ishmael). It stresses the importance of belief in the oneness of Allah and encourages people to follow the guidance of the prophets. The surah ends with a reminder of the Day of Judgment and the consequences of one's actions in this life.

Surah Maryam is considered a significant chapter in the Quran, and its recitation is recommended during Ramadan and other special occasions.
