I was lucky enough to design the first disc golf course in the City of Warren - population over 130,000. We upgraded the existing Veterans Memorial Park - new asphalt parking lot, sidewalk, improved drainage - disc golf course and sand volleyball courts.

The park is around 16 acres, but we had to share the course with walkers, kids playground, picnic tables, parked cars, and volleyball players. So the disc golf course had to be designed to fit into the park with that and safety in mind.

The baskets were purchased from Discraft, which is located here in Michigan. Delivered, 9 baskets, poles, and bases were $2,613. There's a 10% discount for Michigan deliveries.

We made 6ft x 12ft tee pads with a brushed finish - for better traction.

I drew the course map. Started with an aerial, then added the trees and features as photoshop layers.

The course itself turned out that the first 3 holes are fairly easy, middle 3 as long open holes, and last 3 holes in the trees - with #9's basket up on a hill. It's not the greatest course ever built, but we did the best with the space available, and gave room for other areas in the park.

Since this video was finished in 2022 - all the tee pads and signs are in and grass is growing. (most of this was recorded during construction)
