‘Princess Asha is conflicted about her allegiances. The Star helps her see the light.’

The following is a storyboard based on the scrapped concept art of Disney’s Wish. Originally, the Star would have been humanized and Asha’s love interest. Queen Amaya would have been evil too. In one draft, the Star was mute and used sign language. The hand gestures in the animatic spell out ‘i love you’. The song that's playing is the official demo of ‘At All Costs’ and the only change to the lyrics in the final song is removing the word ‘love’ with ‘promise’.

The Rewrite: The Stars are a species that grant wishes, though with a time delay as Heaven and Earth are separated. Magnifico was a rogue star that wanted to rule over lesser beings instead of being an observer. This goes against what the Star Society believes but nevertheless, he crash lands on Earth and murders the original King of Rosas with the help of Queen Amaya. The Queen is a narcissistic, power hungry social climber that had no issue marrying a powerful cosmic being. Both are evil to the core and care not for anything except each other. Rosas is plunged into a dictatorship and everyone suffers, most of all Princess Asha. Having been abused for years, she loathes Stars and is introverted.
Eventually, the time delay catches up and the Stars find out what happened. In an effort to reign in one of their own, they send the Starboy to neutralize King Magnifico. Reluctantly, the quiet Asha teams up with the happy go lucky Starboy if it means a happy ending. Throughout the story, both face a conflict: they fell in love. Asha has to grapple with her beliefs towards Stars in general due to her trauma and Starboy knows he can't stay on Earth after the mission is over as it's against the Star Society’s rules.

In the end, Asha faces off against her mother while King Magnifico and Starboy battle it out for the fate of Rosas. Asha manages to subdue Amaya and assist Starboy in neutralizing Magnifico. Starboy traps Amaya in a mirror to keep her from hurting Asha ever again or taking over the kingdom. Rosas gets a new queen with much celebration but when the Starboy confesses his feelings, the happiness is cut short. The people of Rosas don't want another Magnifico situation and the Stars don't want one of their own down on Earth. Without hesitation, Starboy renounces his starhood and wishes to become human. All the stars in the sky light up as the transformation takes place, with Asha holding his hands for comfort. They share love’s first kiss before a flash of light turns Starboy human.

This took me 2 weeks to make and it was very tedious. I churned this out and I'm not totally satisfied with it. I think some of the frames look meh and I've never made an animatic before so some of the movement looks stilted. I got a new drawing tablet so if I do make more animatics, it for sure will not be using the method I used for this. Never again.
