Kung Fu Can Save America

America is in serious trouble. I don't think anyone can seriously deny that at this point. But the reason might surprise you. Politics is the thing most of us think about...in other words, what's wrong "out there" - as in with other people and society. But the truth is that if we want peace we must understand what causes ALL conflict in the first place. The fact that we aren't trained to think this way is the central issue! And that's exactly where Kung-fu comes into play.

You see, everyone knows that they have a right to self-defense. It's hard wired into our consciousness. It's self-evident. No one has a right to assault us, enslave us, etc. But where things get fuzzy is in applying this basic truth downstream. It's simple, but not easy. If we have the intellectual honesty and courage to apply the principle to our politics - that is, treat others the way we want to be treated...and leave everyone alone - we'd have peace. Instead, we jettison the principles of good character (self-control, respecting others, and minding our own business) when it comes to politics. This is the problem. A person who lacks self-control, isn't respectful to others, and doesn't mind their own business, but seeks to control others, is always going to be in conflict. Well, just the same, a culture of such people causes social conflict.

In this video Sifu Jason takes us through the issue. He explains what rights really are, when force can be used morally, and how our collective suppression of these obvious truths is causing our country to descend into conflict.
