As I pull into a seemingly unknown gas station, I can't help but chuckle at the unpredictability of my journey. Van life or any form of extensive travel can undoubtedly wear one down, both physically and mentally. Yet, as I reminisce about yesterday's weariness, I find solace in the promise of a new day. Isn't it fascinating how life's challenges can transform into valuable lessons overnight?

One humorous realization dawns on me as I realize my geographical blunder – mistaking Illinois for Missouri. It's a reminder that even the most seasoned travelers can sometimes lose track of their whereabouts amidst the vast expanse of the open road.

Navigating through St. Louis during morning rush hour serves as a gentle reminder of the diverse landscapes and challenges that come with traveling. Yet, as I leave the bustling city behind, the calmness of the open road envelopes me, accompanied by the lush greenery of Iowa's countryside.

A much-needed shower at Love's Travel Stop rejuvenates both body and spirit, albeit at the cost of $18 and a surprise rain shower upon exiting. It's the little luxuries on the road that remind me of the simple joys amidst life's complexities.

The mishap with a missing gas cap sparks a cascade of reflections on life's unexpected twists and turns. Despite the frustration, I find humor in the situation, knowing that such hiccups are merely part of the journey. After all, it's the resilience to overcome setbacks that defines our adventures.

As the day unfolds, I'm reminded of the profound truth that every challenge is an opportunity for growth. What may seem like a setback at the end of one day becomes a mere blip on the radar as a new dawn breaks. In the end, it's not about the destination, but the journey itself – with all its joys, sorrows, and unexpected detours.
