Norfolk Southern P29 (New Bern to Morehead City turn) and 94G (track geometry/research train) heading back west through downtown Newport, NC on the former Atlantic & East Carolina.

The geometry/research train, running as 94G, was inspecting the NCDOT corridor (Norfolk Southern's NC/EC-line) from Greensboro to Raleigh, and from Selma to Morehead City. After spending the night in New Bern, 94G ran the EC-line to the Port of Morehead City behind eastbound P29. Later that afternoon, westbound P29 followed 94G from Morehead City back to New Bern - an unusually busy afternoon on the EC-line in Carteret County.
