This is a piece I wrote around 1986. It's based on the opening four notes from "Song of the Volga Boatmen", a Russian folk song that appeared in one of the first guitar method books I studied from. I don't know what the lyrics are, but the theme always felt ominous, dark, and sad to me. D.U. stands for Disunity. There is a where's Waldo moment in this video. I changed one note near the end of the piece after the fact with Ableton Live. See if you can spot it!
