Having driven almost every variation of the Jeep Wrangler, including the 2021 Jeep Gladiator, I have found certain pros and cons that every version of the Wrangler shares. The Wrangler 4xE might be my favorite version yet. The main reason? The added weight from the heavy batteries really stabilize and soften the car on long drives (plus the added EV aspect).

With 375 horsepower and a whopping 470 lb/ft of torque thanks to the combination of the twin turbo 2.0 combustion engine combined with dual electric motors, 0-60 is achieved in only six seconds. With the press of a button next to the steering wheel, you can drive in full electric mode. Although full electric mode only allows about 25 miles of driving, Jeep claims that in 4 Low during offloading, 25 miles translates to hours of fun at low speeds. The hardest pill to swallow is the 10-12 hours of charging time just to collect those 25 EV miles (which can be reduced to 2 hours if you upgrade to the level 2 charging system).

This particular Sahara package 4xE has an MSRP of about $49,000, an unbelievable figure considering the MSRP of a standard wrangler is about $27,000. Theres only a few ways to tell a 4xE from a standard wrangler. Mainly, the badging. You have a 4xE badge on the rear and blue strokes around all of the other badges around the car. Another way to know is by looking at the driver side front quarter panel to identify the charging plug, making the exterior design asymmetric.

The interior has is no longer the rugged and utilitarian mash up of materials. From leather lined dashboards to an infotainment that provides all of the necessary features through a responsive and crisp display. Once again, the black on black wrangler really starts to give off G63 AMG vibes, especially with the black wheel hanging off the rear.

This is a decision for you to make. Are you committed enough to the hybrid system to pay nearly double the amount of a non-hybrid model? I highly doubt sales will be strong, but time will tell.
