It was almost inevitable, the 5.7 Hemi in my 2017 Ram 1500 developed the dreaded tick. There's different ticks though, and luckily this wasn't the worst kind. Nope, this was the infamous broken exhaust manifold bolt tick, known by the fact that it's loudest when you first start the engine, and then quieting down and practically going away once your engine is warmed up. Guessing the side is easy enough too by just following the sound. It's also not fatal, I drove for months with this tick before finally getting everything I needed to fix it, which is what this video is all about.

First a disclaimer, I'm not a professional mechanic, just your typical shade tree wanna-be mechanic that figures things out, so things don't always go smoothly. I make mistakes along the way, but that's how I learn, and hopefully by showing it, helps others avoid making those same mistakes. In this vid we start with going over the parts and tools, then gaining access to the exhaust manifold, removing the exhaust manifold, extracting the broken bolt (which is the tricky part), and finally putting it all back together with new parts.
