This is the first part of my Spider-Man Explained series, in which I’ll take you through each and every console Spider-Man game, starting back in the 1980’s on the Atari and eventually leading all the way up until Insomniac’s latest entry, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. I will detail each games new innovations, the gameplay mechanics, the costumes, the narrative and the villains! This first episode will cover the older titles that released before the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man Movies. We will see the birth of the video game depiction of the popular hero, Sega’s one hit wonder in the 90’s, Acclaim’s hit or miss season of Spidey games and Activision’s revival with the first 3D Web Slinger video games.
