While the SP500 has dropped 18% since Jan 3rd, and GDP numbers have posted two-quarters of consecutive decline technically qualifying this as a recession, something big is missing from the economic puzzle. Yes of course hurts to see inflation raging, and stocks down, but a true recession is typically accompanied by high unemployment, and thus far 2022 has been the complete opposite with unemployment numbers reaching record lows.

A bizarre economic landscape has emerged. One where all the numbers seem to be headed in the wrong direction but the core of the economy, the single biggest reason people may any attention to finance is doing just fine. The job market has left so many experts puzzled. If everything is really burning why are we not seeing mass layoffs, like the ones we saw in 2008 and other minor reccssion prior to it.
