Are some pools able to reach some sort of stasis? Well, no, without a professional pool chemical automation system installation, which is an appreciably expensive addition to your pool, no pool chemistry automated. Even with one of these automation systems the chemical dosing of the pool is only reduced in the manual sense, but increased in the sense that you now oversee and maintain the automation equipment, hoses, controllers and probes, acid and chlorine tanks...you really are trading one type of pool maintenance for another. Make no mistake if you know a pool owner who tests their pool water by looking at it (not possible) and seldom makes corrections to the water, their pool is not balanced and one day they will pay the piper for ignoring their basic water chemistry maintenance. Swimming pools are notorious for being expensive when they break and you definitely want to do everything you can to make yours last as long as possible...not to mention making the water safe and comfortable for the swimmers!
