Giving your space a fresh look without breaking the bank. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you achieve an amazing makeover:

Step 1: Gather Materials
- Sandpaper (medium and fine grit)
- Paint (latex or chalk paint for furniture)
- Paintbrushes or paint sprayer
- New fabric for chair seats (if needed)
- Upholstery staple gun (if re-covering chairs)

Step 2: Prepare the Surface
- Remove Old Finish: If your table and chairs have a previous finish, use medium-grit sandpaper to remove it. This step is crucial for the new paint or stain to adhere properly.
Smooth Surfaces: Once the old finish is removed, use fine-grit sandpaper to smooth the surfaces. This will create a clean base for the new finish.
for the table top, i used furniture stripper.
For the table top i use 15%paint and 85%water to create a custom paint wash.

Step 4: Paint
- Choose Paint: Select your desired paint color for the table and chairs. Latex or chalk paint works well for furniture makeovers.
- Apply Paint: Using a paintbrush or paint sprayer, apply an even coat of paint to all surfaces. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying additional coats, as needed, for full coverage.
- Sand Between Coats: For a smooth finish, lightly sand between coats of paint using fine-grit sandpaper. This helps remove any imperfections and ensures a professional-looking result.
- The cane backing i use 1/2water 1/2 paint.

Step 5: Seal (Optional)
- Apply Sealant ; Once the paint/ stain is fully dry, you can apply a clear sealant to protect the finish and add durability. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application.

Step 6: Reupholster Chairs
- Remove Old Fabric: If your chairs have upholstered seats and you want to update the fabric, carefully remove the old fabric using a staple remover.
Cut New Fabric: Cut pieces of new fabric slightly larger than the seat dimensions.
Attach New Fabric: Pull the new fabric taut over the seat and use an upholstery staple gun to secure it in place. Start by stapling the center of each side, then work your way towards the corners, pulling the fabric tight as you go.

Step 7: Final Touches
- Reassemble: Once all paint and upholstery are dry, reassemble the chairs and place them around the table.

Tips:
Work in a well-ventilated area when painting and priming.
Take your time and be patient with each step for the best results.
Experiment with different paint techniques, such as distressing or stenciling, for a unique look.
With these steps, you can transform your dining table and chairs into stunning pieces that breathe new life into your space!
