Halle Bailey is revealing why she decided to keep her pregnancy private. The 23-year-old singer was one of four people honored at the 2024 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards on Thursday and gave a passionate speech when she got up to the podium, wiping away tears as she reflected on why she kept her pregnancy close to her heart. "There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone," she said. "Halo was my gift. He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that," she added. Last year, "The Little Mermaid" star kept her pregnancy with boyfriend DDG a secret. The pair welcomed their son Halo in 2023 and the Grammy nominee revealed the exciting news in an Instagram post on Jan. 6, sharing a picture of her holding her newborns hand. As for why she chose to keep it private until after his birth—she said it came from a "place of protection."
