Consent means giving permission. We can consent to hugs, kisses from grandma, or having our photo shared on social media, and we sign consent forms when we go out for a sport. It's a part of everyday life.
When it comes to sex, consent is a must! Consent is an ongoing CONVERSATION, not a sign-on-the-dotted-line situation. It's freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic, and specific. When consent isn't given, it's no longer sex. It's sexual assault.
If you've been sexually assaulted, please contact your local domestic violence or sexual assault program. You're not alone and help is available!
If you live in Gage, Jefferson, Saline, Seward, York, Fillmore, or Thayer Counties in Southeast Nebraska, you can call Hope Crisis Center at 1-877-388-4673.
