Many of us in the run-up to Ramadan convince ourselves we can do so very much, only to find we miss our targets within the first few days. It's better to set achievable goals, those that aim to raise our levels of Ibadah (worship), but something we can realistically accomplish. Yes, read more Qur'an, do more good deeds, and try to pray Tahajjud (voluntary night prayers) — but not beyond what we can reasonable expect to do.
