China’s fifth Antarctic research station, which is being built on Inexpressible Island in the Ross Sea’s Terra Nova Bay, features summer and winter dormitories and a restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows, and will be a safe and comfortable home for members of the country's 40th Antarctic expedition team despite the extreme conditions.
