The New Subaru Forester is a very affordable compact crossover SUV with the ability to venture off the beaten path. The Forester is quiet and comfortable up front and the back seat is spacious, with the cargo area providing more than adequate space for any camping gear or a week's worth of groceries. The Forester comes well equipped even on the entry level and you'll get a host of driver-assist tech. As might be expected of a Subaru, all-wheel drive comes as standard, but the CVT transmission is probably one of the only drawbacks in our opinion.
The Subaru Forester is without doubt the SUV for all weathers all roads and all conditions. Launched in 2013, the Forester was available with a choice of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, but since 2019 it has only been available as a 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol hybrid.

With the Subaru Forester you get a great family car with a generous level of standard equipment, however, it’s not the cheapest car you can buy, starting at £36K, but it’s likely to be one of the most reliable. It will keep going long after your neighbour’s crossover SUV has been left stranded after a light dusting of snow, as this really is an all-weather, all-season family SUV.
