Today, I take our flagship Peterbilt 389-X, Miller Industries, Century 1150R heavy rotator towing and recovery unit to help out a customer who needs two pieces of railroad equipment unloaded and set on the tracks. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, add in our "ARC" nemesis, the overhead power lines, and live railroad tracks as well as a sizeable, odd-shaped load to lift and swing.....What could go wrong? Well, a lot of things. This could prove to be a shocking experience if our nemesis decides to ARC to the boom before we can swing away. Anyway, this was a fun job getting to offload some unique equipment and set it on the rails. Also, you will get to see a very valuable, yet seldom used piece of equipment, our Miller Swivel Equalizer which allows us to easily spin suspended loads over 37,000 lbs (16783 kg).
