This short documentary, created and produced by Ariel Alyce Morabito, Digital Curator of the
Bryant Library Local History Collection, is about Marion Peters Pearsall, a former Roslyn
resident from a family of Black, Indigenous, and European origin who grew up a member of the
prominent Peters Family.

In 1941, Marion married E. Arrell Pearsall of the also prominent Pearsall Family, who describes
her in his autobiography, This Is My Life, written expressly for the Local History Collection. In
this film, we share what we have learned about Marion’s life, from her childhood in Roslyn, to
her career as a registered nurse, to her life as a beloved wife and mother.

Accompanying the research is a wonderful backdrop of family photographs curated from
collections donated by Arrell Pearsall and lent for digitization by their son, Bryan Pearsall.

Read more about Marion on the Local History Collection’s Bryant Room Blog, where we explore
topics of historical interest pertaining to Roslyn and its surrounding areas.
