Watch our documentary on Baldwin IV, Leper King of Jerusalem:    • Baldwin IV, Leper King who Defeated S...

Documentary taking a look at the Fourth Crusade, one of the most widely-discussed episodes in Crusades history. In 1204, an army of Venetians and Frankish knights captured and sacked Constantinople, the ancient capital of the Byzantine Empire. History has remembered this event as the culmination of the Fourth Crusade. For many, the Fourth Crusade is to blame for the ultimate demise of the Byzantine Empire. But is this true? Is there any real reason to believe that the Fourth Crusade was the decisive event that destroyed the Byzantine Empire? Indeed, is it possible that earlier developments ultimately ensured the downfall of Byzantium?
