IT's Day 34 and Roberts is exploring the attractions of Mumbai.

This was my first visit to Mumbai. But I had read about it in the amazing book Shantaram, by fellow Australian Gregory David Roberts. Who could probably also be related.

Shantaram is a 2003 novel, in which a convicted Australian bank robber and heroin addict escapes from Melbourne’s Pentridge Prison and flees to India. The novel is commended by many for its vivid portrayal of life in Bombay in the early to late 1980s.

It was one of the most memorable books I have ever read and through it one gets to live vicariously through many rich and harrowing experiences, including the seedy cafe ‘Leopold’s’, slum life in Bombay, the world of international criminals and Indian prison. It was in development for many years as a feature film when Johnny Depp bought the rights to the Script. That fizzled out but it has now been brought to the small screen as a series starring Charlie Hunnam as protagonist Lin.

Mumbai is a bustling metropolis located on the western coast of India. It is known for its vibrant culture, stunning architecture, delicious food, and rich history. In 2023, Mumbai continues to be a hub of business, education, and entertainment, attracting millions of visitors each year. Here are some of the top attractions in Mumbai that you might want to visit:

6. Haji Ali Dargah - This historic mosque is located on an island off the coast of Mumbai and is accessible via a causeway. It is a popular pilgrimage site for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

7. Juhu Beach - This popular beach is located in the western suburbs of Mumbai and is a great place to relax, enjoy some street food, and watch the sunset.

8. Crawford Market - This bustling market is one of the oldest in Mumbai and is famous for its fresh produce, spices, and souvenirs.

9. Siddhivinayak Temple - This popular Hindu temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is located in the Prabhadevi neighborhood of Mumbai. It is one of the wealthiest temples in India and attracts millions of visitors each year.

10. Sanjay Gandhi National Park - This sprawling national park is located in the northern suburbs of Mumbai and is home to a variety of wildlife, including leopards, deer, and monkeys. It is a great place to go for a hike or a picnic.

The degree of difficulty is amplified many times over when it has ambitions to become a series.

But for one person to attempt to all of this solo, is for most experts just insanity.
