The central government has agreed to release the drought relief fund to Karnataka to replenish the parched groundwater conditions, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah said on Saturday. The state will receive Rs 3,498.82 crore for drought relief, as the Union Finance Ministry agreed to release funds for calamity relief after the Supreme Court's intervention. This development follows lengthy legal battles and a series of petitions as the Siddaramiah government fought tooth and nail with the centre over the disaster relief funds.
