Today we are going to show you how to make a simple but elegant brass plaque. To begin, I am using pre-cut 3" x 6" brass plates. These plates are coated with a protective plastic on the front and has an adhesive on the back for attaching it to the wood. The brass also has holes for small brass screws.

The first operation is the engrave the design using the Astra Coated 30 degree 425-CR30.005 V-Bit. The key here is very light depth of cut. After the brass plaques are engraved, I milled up walnut and cherry for the wooden portion of the plaque. Next we head over to the router table to put an edge profile on them using the Whiteside 3270 French Traditional bit. I really love the sleek look of this profile and highly recommend it.

To hang the plaques on the wall I need to cut a keyhole and I did so using the Astra Coated Whiteside 3050 keyhole bit.

Finally I can sand the surface up to 220 grit, apply a wiping varnish and then attach the brass plates using the adhesive and the screws.
