This is one of the most popular ways to get rid of bees and you can decide whether you want to kill the bees or release them. If you plan on releasing them - don't put any honey, sugar, liquid in this jar - the bee's will still find their way in and get stuck. You can then release the mason jar wherever you want.

Boring bees were tearing up the side of my shed and so I figured it was time to fight back, unfortunately. I'm pretty environmentally friendly (watch my weed torching video instead of poison, or my recycled metal video for reference), but enough was enough. I tried spraying vinegar, I tried putting down shaved cucumbers, nothing worked until I put this carpenter bee trap out there.

Although my trap did not catch many bees, this is the method used for years and year to capture carpenter bees and I hope you enjoy the video and consider subscribing.

The process is simple:
1) get a scrap piece of 4x4 - about 10" long at least.
2) drill a 4-5" hole down the center bottom that's wide enough for a bee
3) drill a hole on each side that is angled up to the end point of that 4-5" you already drilled
5) screw on a mason jar lid
6) fill the mason jar with bee candy (soda, honey, etc)
7) capture some bees
