So excited to share my itinerary (scroll down for typed version) and recs with you! Tokyo was my first destination as a solo female traveler, and I thought that it would be a good warm-up because I heard that Japan was very solo traveler-friendly. Unfortunately, I sometimes felt lonely and anxious because I visited the week leading up to Christmas, which is basically Valentine's season in Japan. Almost everyone went around with a friend or significant other, which made me hyper-aware of my aloneness. I think that I would have enjoyed solo traveling more if I visited Tokyo at a different time of the year. I was always the only person eating by myself in izakayas, which felt a bit awkward because izakayas have a very social environment. People usually go in groups because the plates are designed to be shared, and eating alone can be expensive. The food was always fantastic though! Dia time

I found myself with more spare time than preferred with 6 days, and I think that 3-4 days would be plenty to see the best sights. I'd highly recommend spending a day in my favorite neighborhoods: Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Akihabara/Asakusa. The other neighborhoods are nice but not essential if you're short on time. If I were to do it again, I would have skipped browsing in Shinjuku's department stores, Times Square, and Tokyo Tower. DisneySea disabled skip-the-line passes at the time I went, and the long lines tainted my experience. The park is super cool though, so it's probably worth it if you go during a low season. Also, be sure to book your time slot to Shibuya Sky a few days in advance! They fill up quickly.
