2023 Feifan R7 a $28500 electric SUV in-depth Walkaround

1 just 1-minute car video😉

Feifan is a brand under the SAIC corporation. It was previously known as R and underwent a rebranding process in October 2021. Although technically the R brand was under Roewe, it became an independent company with 95% of the shares owned by SAIC and the remaining 5% distributed among Feifan employees. The name Feifan is intriguing, as its vehicles are still marketed under the R label, and at auto shows, they present themselves as "Feifan R". Additionally, Feifan has an obscure international moniker, "Rising Auto".

The Feifan R7 boasts a sporty and aerodynamic design, measuring 4900/1925/1655 mm in size with a 2950mm wheelbase. It features pop-out door handles, frameless doors, and sharp headlights that contribute to its sleek appearance. Its coupe shape has a low drag coefficient of 0.238 Cd.

The interior of the Feifan R7 is equipped with a 43-inch triple-screen setup, including a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 12.3-inch display screen in front of the co-pilot seat, and a 15.05-inch central control screen powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The top-trim level Feifan R7 is equipped with two electric motors that generate a combined output of 400 kW (544 hp) with a peak torque of 700 Nm. This results in a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds. The single motor version has a maximum power of 250 kW and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.8 seconds, both limited to a top speed of 200 km/h.

The Feifan R7 is equipped with swappable ternary lithium batteries made by the United Auto Battery System (UABS), a joint venture between SAIC and CATL. According to the carmaker, the battery can be charged with a plug and a single battery replacement takes only 2 and a half minutes. The standard version has a 77 kWh capacity battery pack, providing a cruising range of 551 km (CLTC). In comparison, the long-range and four-wheel drive versions are equipped with a 90 kWh capacity battery pack, yielding cruising ranges of 642 km and 606 km (CLTC), respectively. There are also versions available without swappable batteries.
