At the 1981 International Motor Show Germany, Mrs. Duchatelet personally presented a chauffeur-driven version of the Mercedes Carat, which featured, among other things, a colour television, a safe, a minibar with Cartier silver cups, a stereo sound system and a gold-plated Mercedes star.
The overall price was 265,000 Deutsche Mark.
