Miami is the epicenter of Latin music – a city whose nightclubs and ocean front rooftops inspire rappers and pop idols alike. Coming straight from the 305 is Gonzy, a Cuban-American reggaeton singer whose style is an amalgamation of borrowed sounds from R&B, dance-pop, bachata, and, of course, reggaeton that persuades fans to join the dancefloor. His stories about broken hearts, pride, sex and the all-consuming party really grab you. His first album, ‘MI FANTASY,’ positioned the rapper as one of the most versatile new school artists in the genre. It was his 2023 project ‘DESAHOGO’ which catapulted him directly into an opening spot for Myke Towers’ tour stop in Miami. “I’ve spent the last three years taking the long way home from the studio to cruise by the [Kaseya Center] arena and visualize myself there,” Gonzy said after the concert. “I hope I never lose this feeling because it’s fucking amazing.” His humility, Caribbean swagger and lyrical talent in both English and Spanish are the perfect combination to make Gonzy the next big reggaeton star.
