This video shows all you need to know to hike the Royal Elk hiking trail to Beaver Lake, Colorado. All footage was recorded in the summer (July) of 2022. The Royal Elk hiking trail is one of the most beautiful footpaths near Beaver Creek with varied scenery ranging from aspen and spruce forests to open meadows with wildflowers. The end destination of the trail is the Beaver Lake trail close to Beaver Lake.

The hiking trail is 5 miles long out and back with an elevation gain of 1,062 feet. It is a moderately rated trail. If you are in a good shape, it should not be difficult.

The online adult ski lift ticket cost $53 for the summer of 2023. There are discounts for seniors, children and military. You can also purchase another type of ski lift day pass (slightly more expensive) that will include a $25 voucher toward a lunch at Spruce Saddle lodge.

If you purchased an Epic Pass for the upcoming ski season that includes summer lift access, you can go for free as many times as you want. This is what we did, and we also got free summer ski access at other resorts, such as Vail nearby.

After that, take the Centennial Express lift to the top of Beaver Creek mountain. Spruce Saddle lodge will be located there. Meanwhile, on the way, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Rockies. We recommend taking the chair lift as opposed to the gondola, which is an enclosed capsule.
