Join Rio Grande Tech Team member Gregg Burgard as he explains how to correctly read and use a ring mandrel. Ring mandrels are useful tools that can be used to check the size of an existing ring, guide you when you need to change a ring size or use when sizing new rings. Using a tapered, graduated ring mandrel, Gregg shows how to check the size of two different types of rings—one with a flat inside surface and one with a curved (rounded) inside surface, like a Comfort-Fit style ring. Helpful graphics show how the ring mandrel works while highlighting the different touch points on the two types of rings mentioned.
