Federal investigators are looking into potential criminal wrongdoings after a large container ship crashed into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge causing it to collapse into the Patapsco River in March.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) went aboard the ship, called DALI, Monday as they began looking into whether the crew left port knowing that something could be wrong with the boat.

“The FBI is present aboard the cargo ship Dali conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity,” the FBI Baltimore said in a statement.

At the same time as the FBI, Baltimore leaders announced they're seeking legal action against the M/V DALI's owner, manufacturers, and potential third parties for any long-term damages to the city and its economy.
