Mrs. Hughes understandably disagrees with Mr. Carson on where they should hold their wedding reception. Carson wants it to be in the Great Hall of Downton, but Mrs. Hughes does want to feel like a servant on their wedding day. The night before the wedding, Mrs. Hughes and Cora have a misunderstanding over a coat, but later on, Cora gives a sincere apology about her behaviour and gifts Mrs. Hughes the coat. Mrs. Hughes and Carson finally get married and hold their reception at the schoolhouse.

From Season 6 Episode 3: Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson disagree on where their wedding reception should be held. Lady Mary reassures Carson that their reception will be held in the Great Hall of Downton, causing trouble between him and Mrs. Hughes, who doesn’t want to feel like a servant on her wedding day. Later, Mrs. Hughes and Cora have a misunderstanding over one of Cora’s coats, resulting in Cora losing her temper. Later Cora apologises and gifts Mrs. Hughes the coat. Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes have their wedding at St. Michael and All Angels Church and their reception and the School House.
