This video covers my first drive of a brand new Tesla Model Y long range all-wheel drive (AWD) with the 19-inch aero wheels. I currently own another electric SUV (VW ID4) and I used to own a 2020 Tesla Model 3. This is my first time back in a Tesla in nearly 18 months, so I wanted to see what improvements that have been made, which seem to be plenty.

I first noticed that the Model Y is much quieter than my Model 3 from a few years ago. That could be thanks to the dual-paned front glass windows that have been installed, among other NVH parts. Additionally, the Model Y’s cabin features even more soft touch materials and a brand-new redesigned center console that is much nicer to look at and does not provide as much sun glare.

One of the things I miss about my Tesla is the acceleration. Do you absolutely need it? No, but the dual motor Tesla Model Y is fast and extremely fun to drive. It handles very well with its low center of gravity, similar to most new EVs.
