There has been plenty of talk about the new-generation Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, and we've done plenty with it.

And while the Land Cruiser 300 Toyota is a serious off-roader and some versions have some luxury overtones, there was always going to be space above it for the Lexus take on the big 4x4.

Enter this, the new-generation Lexus LX 2022 model. It's big, bold and offers all the hardcore off-road bits that the Toyota version does, but with the Lexus take on things, there's considerably more focus on plushness and presence.

Plus - unlike the diesel-only Cruiser - Lexus offers the new LX with the choice of petrol (LX 600) or diesel (LX 500d). Neither are as in-your-face as the old V8 petrol in the previous LX, but choice is a luxury consideration in itself, right?

So is the new Lexus LX just a Toyota LandCruiser with a designer makeover? Or is it much more than that, considering it has specific off-road and safety tech, not to mention all the luxury features you'd expect from the brand's SUV flagship?
