Our Summer Biblical Hebrew course will be held (entirely online, via Zoom) for six weeks in our summer session. The class will meet each Tue/Thu 6:30–9pm from May 21–June 27, 2024.

Students in all degree programs and lifelong learners in the community are welcome to register and join the quest!

This course is built on the premise that language learning should be fun! So put fear aside and expect a mixture of games, music, spoken conversation in Hebrew, and laughter (along with plenty of focused work). Hebrew is a language for communication, not a code to crack. Therefore, this course employs modern strategies for second-language acquisition to help you "catch" the language—not merely a bunch of rote memorization. The goal of our six weeks is to give you (1) a sense of how this beautiful language works, (2) some ability to "think in Hebrew," (3) a foundation of Hebrew vocabulary (enough to be dangerous!), and (4) access to tools of translation and linguistic analysis that you can apply in your work of biblical exegesis, preaching, or your own biblical learning.
