I replaced the piston and rings in my 1978 Yamaha DT100 a week ago, and unfortunately the clips came out and the piston cqme lose and stopped the engine instantly. The piston is ruined, and the clips feel down into the engine and locked it up. So I was just going to sell as parts, or just sit in my garage for years... but I decided to try and free the engine up, and luckily with a magnet and WD40 I was able the get most of the 2 metal clips out, and freed the engine up! So I got another piston, and now it's all back together, but I am having a large oil leak. But I was able to figure out how the kick starter goes back in correctly, and hopefully once I figure out this oil leak and try to run this engine again... if successful I'd like to do a complete video on a full engine tear down, and put back together properly for this engine. I was only able to find 125cc and 175cc DT's video's on YouTube, and the only DT100 video's I found was in foreign countries. So, I would like to do a full video to help those that need it here in the U.S. or English speaking areas. I will updated everyone wondering with a video of it running!
