Report: Dallas Mavericks sign former NCAA Champion to contract.

The Dallas Mavericks have been making moves over the last few days, and Dallas made multiple moves on Friday ahead of their preseason finale against the Detroit Pistons at the American Airlines Center.

Dallas' moves on Friday were signing Theo Pinson and signing Justin Jackson, per Tim Cato of The Athletic.

Both players have played for the Mavericks in the past, but it doesn't sound like either player will suit up for Dallas this season.

It seems like the purpose of signing them both was to have them on the Texas Legends for the season. Neither player is eligible for a two-way contract, and they wouldn't have enough time to prove they deserve a guaranteed roster spot unless something drastic happened.

Jackson's first stint with Dallas was during the 2018-19 season and 2019-20 season. During his time in Dallas, Jackson struggled. He averaged 6.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 32.1 percent from downtown.

Jackson was supposed to be a knockdown shooter, but he just wasn't. He started in 14 games in Dallas and was later traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jackson has bounced around over the last couple of years in the NBA, and he may never live up to the expectations he had entering the league. He was an NCAA Champion at the University of North Carolina and was later selected in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Legends seem like they will have plenty of familiar faces this season, and Jackson could end up playing his way into a contract with an NBA team.
