Deep Purple is without a doubt one of the most classic Hard Rock bands of all time, sporting some of the greatest front men ever.

Original lead vocalist Ian Gillan left the band in 1973, due to friction with Ritchie Blackmore. David Coverdale (a previously unknown singer) auditioned and got the gig, first recording vocals on their next album, “Burn”. He also eventually left DP, forming Whitesnake in 1978.

Note: Unfortunately there are some instrumental remnants in Coverdale’s vocals here. I did try to clean it up as best I could, but he proved to be nearly impossible to completely isolate in this song.
