In 2021, construction activities globally rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. It was reported that the building and construction sector accounted for approximately 37% of energy- and process-related CO2 emissions and over 34% of global energy demand. Utilizing sustainable materials and implementing sustainable practices in civil engineering has become crucial for the sustainable development of our society.

This webinar will discuss the current trends in sustainable materials and practices in civil engineering, with a specific focus on building and construction. The life cycle of construction materials and relevant policies aimed at achieving efficient and resilient buildings and construction will also be covered.

Key takeaways from this webinar
- The building and construction industry has been employing sustainable materials and adopting sustainable practices.
- There is considerable untapped potential for further advancements in sustainable materials and practices.
- Implementing relevant policies to promote the development of sustainable materials and practices can lead to a reduction in energy consumption.
