On January 23, 2023, The Walt Disney Company officially closed Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Buena Vista, Florida. It officially opened on October 2, 1992. Unfortunately due to allegations of the riding containing racist characters Disney decided to close it and replace it with a new ride called Tiana's Bayou Adventure based on the characters from the Disney film The Princess and the Frog with a New Orleans theme.
