As an artist, you can spend your entire life chasing the dream of becoming "The Next Big Thing" or even just "The Flavor of the Month." Or you can say screw it and double down on what makes you you. There are very few who have ever walked the latter path so holistically and to the same amount of respect and acclaim as British New Waver icons The Smiths. And the influence of their albeit brief body of work, including 1985's Meat I Murder, resonates to this day.
