Ben Camey Wallace is an American basketball executive and former professional player renowned for his career primarily with the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Widely hailed as the greatest undrafted player in NBA history, Wallace gained acclaim for his exceptional shot-blocking, rebounding, and defensive prowess. Hailing from Alabama, Wallace pursued his education at Cuyahoga Community College and Virginia Union University. Throughout his NBA journey, he also showcased his talents with the Washington Bullets/Wizards, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Wallace achieved the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award on four occasions, a feat he shares with Dikembe Mutombo. During his nine-season tenure with the Pistons (2000–2006; 2009–2012), he contributed to two NBA Finals appearances (2004 and 2005) and secured a championship with the team in 2004. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, the Pistons retired his jersey No. 3 in 2016, and Wallace was subsequently inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in the class of 2021. Presently, Wallace serves as the basketball operations and team engagement advisor for the Pistons.
