Simbang Gabi is one of the oldest Filipino Christmas traditions, where the faithful gather for nine days of Masses, prayers to the Child Jesus, and festive gatherings — typically held in the early morning or evening.

In 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three children in Fatima Portugal, where she reaffirmed the central truths and devotions of the Catholic Faith: The Blessed Trinity, The Eucharist, Penance, the Rosary and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. The National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Valenzuela City (Pambansang Dambana ng Mahal na Birhen ng Fatima) was canonically established in the Diocese of Malolos by Rufino Cardinal Santos on March 7, 1961. It is considered the oldest locally made image of Our Lady of Fatima in the country.
